4 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE NXT UK (15 April)
1. Let's Get LKY
Kenny Williams vs. Amir Jordan was exactly what it needed to be. A slugfest.
It wasn’t your typical slugfest, mind, as that style of match would typically give off the impression that it’s two big beefy boys battering each other. Instead, we had two scrappy cruiserweights knocking lumps off one another, kicked off by Amir tackling Kenny from the offset of the contest. His running crossbody early on was superb.
What made this better was Kenny’s focus on Amir’s previously injured shoulder. He knew exactly what the problem was with Amir, meaning he was able to cleverly pick him apart. Furthermore, Amir dodging Kenny’s attempt at kicking him in the d*ck and balls was a subtle touch. It’s something we’ve seen before from ‘The Lucky Yin’; Amir knows what’s coming.
Kenny snuck his way to victory via use of an exposed turnbuckle and a spiked headlock driver, giving him the singles win he needs to kickstart his heel singles run. Both of these guys are going to be great singles guys in NXT UK, but it’s Kenny Williams who had to get this first post-tag team victory. It was imperative that he did so by using an actual finisher in order to cement his superiority at this moment.
