Kevin Owens WWE Winged Eagle Title

Saturday Night's Main Event ended with a package/stump piledriver that Mick Foley's Mankind character would've been proud of. Kevin Owens spiked Cody Rhodes right on his bleach blonde head, then left with the 'Winged Eagle' version of the WWE Title. On Friday, Kev stopped by to cut a pre-taped promo discussing his attack on Cody. Unsurprisingly, he blamed everybody else for what happened.

More specifically, Owens said the refs and Nick Aldis helped to screw him out of the championship, and that brought him close to snapping. This was key, because KO was effectively saying that his violent attacks on Randy Orton and Rhodes haven't been brought on by him losing his temper. That's still to come. "I haven't snapped yet". That's tasty.

Once Owens does, blood will be on the hands of everyone in WWE. As always, Kevin skirted the fine line between ominous and believing his own rubbish. The best heels think they're right, and they can point to plot points to back that up. KO has been there, done that, and now he's in that sweet spot where it's totally possible to push his own character arc along without the need for anything physical.

The one thing WWE wanted to put across here is that the worst is yet to come. Cody will return with vengeance on his lips (and fists), which means Owens has to meet that halfway. It's cool that he isn't backing down or acting apologetic for anything he's done to date, it really is.

Side note: Something just looks right about a worker like KO with that 'Winged Eagle' draped over his shoulder.
