4 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Aug 20)

Downs...

4. “Big Upset”

What the hell, man?

Michael Cole yelped with delight that Shotzi and Nox are now number one contenders for the Women's Tag-Team Titles after they'd beaten Natalya and Tamina. Erm...the former NXT stars had already secured that on SmackDown's 16 July episode. Sure, Nattie got injured soon after, but why did that wipe out their pre-existing contenders status?

Also, Cole called this victory a "big upset". It's not really - Nox even shouted that she and Shotzi had bested the champs on three occasions post-match. An "upset" would be a one-off, and it'd only really be shocking if Natalya and Tamina had been on a serious roll beforehand.

In short, Shotzi and Nox were already owed a title shot before rocking to the ring in that tank on Friday evening. The fact that WWE either forgot that (or just couldn't be arsed to acknowledge it) is pretty shocking stuff. It literally happened last month!
