4 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Rampage (May 20)

1. A Fine Main Event

No-one should take umbrage with the fact that the main event tag went as long as it did. Unlike the six-man opener, there was a reason for the length. Firstly, the Blackpool Combat Club duo of Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley love punishing their opponents. Second, Dante Martin is a rising star.

This was fine then.

The match was a fun showcase for Bryan's mat-based style, Moxley's mayhem and Martin's high-flying abilities. Dante and Matt Sydal were never realistically picking up the win, but fans in attendance seemed to enjoy the bout regardless and cheered for both when they roared back in the face of BCC pressure.

There was an urgency to the threat of a double stoppage from the ref too. The bell nearly sounded because Mox and Bryan were beating Dante and Sydal up so badly, but then Moxley landed a DDT on Martin for the pin.

Good stuff.
