4 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (18 Nov - Results & Review)

Downs…

5. Get To The Fireworks Factory

For the most part, the slow disintegration of the New Day has been one of the better angles that has played out on WWE programming in recent months. The duo looks to be falling apart just as their tenth anniversary is approaching, leaving the question of whether there will be some miraculous rescue or if they really will splinter.

Monday, their story was relegated to a backstage segment with Alpha Academy. Xavier Woods came in and admitted he and Kofi Kingston needed to talk because they had gone a decade without any serious fights and now were constantly arguing. He alluded to Karrion Kross’ comment (Really? Four months later?) that the New Day is dead and the only people who don’t realize it are the New Day themselves.

Woods then immediately became incensed when Kofi said he needed to remember what the New Day is all about, an incredibly forced snipe from Xavier just seconds after he lamented how they were arguing about everything. Yes, that’s the point, but holy hell, that’s an incredibly quick turnaround. Woods then insulted Alpha Academy and challenged them to a match next week.

At this stage, it feels like the New Day breakup story has too much runway to the conclusion and they’re just stretching stuff out. The angle needs to reach either its conclusion or a major turning point, because the slow burn is becoming a bit overplayed.
