No-one watching WarGames was left with any doubts about the future of NXT. WWE painted a clear enough picture here: 'Black & Gold' is dead, and 2.0 is where it's at heading into 2022. Being honest, the company had to put all their eggs in that particular basket - some sort of 50/50 old-meets-new wasn't going to work for longer than one major show.

Breakker pinned Ciampa to end the night, and that surely means he'll get another NXT Title match somewhere down the road. That's fine, not least 'cause everybody could see it coming a mile off. It's also not like Bron is terrible. He deserves this push, and he'll only improve the more faith WWE shows in him.

2.0 haters might turn their nose up at this brand's new style, but few could piece together a convincing-enough argument to suggest that 'Steiner The Younger' shouldn't be pushed to the f*cking moon and supplant Tommaso as NXT's main man.

It's inevitable, and this was proof of that inevitability.
