4 Ups And 1 Down From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Dec 13)
2. An Unexpected Rematch
Up next, Alexa Bliss was advertised as being in action for the first time since capturing the Smackdown Women's Championship, and her opponent, Deonna Purrazzo, was already in the ring waiting for her. Bliss had no interest in facing Purrazzo, though, and in the middle of her own promo, she paused to attack the NXT grappler and throw her out of the ring.
That brought out Becky Lynch, who told Bliss that if she wanted a fight and didn't want to face Purrazzo, then she could take on Becky in her contractually stipulated rematch. Bliss started to turn tail, but Shane McMahon came out and made the match.
The bout was good, which should come as no surprise. The action was crisp and intense, but before too long, Bliss was thrown from the ring and seemed to suffer a leg injury. She began hobbling away from the ring while holding her knee, and eventually, she was counted out. That displeased Becky, who grabbed Bliss, threw her back in the ring, and continued the assault.
Even though the finish was weak, this was an exciting match that proves that the next encounter between these two women will also deliver.
