4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (May 28)
Downs...
4. Even Dean Ambrose Can't Save The Dreaded Show Opening Promo Boredom
This is a weekly complaint because Smackdown is a very stale television show that isn't "must see" to a lot of fans, so with that in mind you would think WWE might change the format of the show. Instead, they make it a carbon copy of Raw with the opening of the show starting off with a promo. Dean Ambrose is a great promo guy, so WWE trotted him out there to do a monologue trying to sum up the ridiculous arrested storyline from Monday's Raw. The crowd seemed so bored by this promo even though they were hot for Ambrose when he walked out. The only times they really reacted were when he mentioned Roman Reigns and what has become the customary Justin Bieber joke related to Rollins. When Ambrose was on Chris Jericho's podcast a few months ago, he was honest in saying that he hasn't really liked any of his promos in WWE. It's because he's not allowed to really express himself the way he wants to or the way that got him noticed prior to his WWE run. Ambrose ended the promo saying he'd beat Rollins on Sunday at Elimination Chamber and the "Age of Ambrose" begins.
