4 Ups And Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Feb 19)

UPS...

4. Rusev Destroying People Was The Right Way To Use Him

This is a mild "up" on a show that lacked a lot of great segments. Sometimes we have to reach for these. Tyson Kidd was in a singles match with Jimmy Uso as a preview for the Tag Title match on Sunday. About one minute into the match, Rusev sprinted down to the ring and attacked both guys. He nailed Jey Uso with a forearm, a spinkick on Jimmy, a kick on Kidd that sent him outside the ring (Cesaro avoided an attack) and then Rusev hit a huge kick on Jey Uso. The segment ended with Rusev dominating both Uso brothers. He also ranted in a foreign language. Rusev needed to look strong going into the match at Fastlane. With no Cena on Smackdown, Rusev had to dominate somebody. He could have been booked in a quick match, but having him interfere in a match shows that he doesn't care who he attacks or when. He just wants to prove a point. The reason that it's only a mild up is because they really shouldn't have him destroy two guys that are going to be in the Tag Title match on Sunday. That match is supposed to be a big deal. If fans see that two of those guys (Jimmy and Kidd) can be beat up so easily by one man then it makes those two guys look like a pair of losers. Rusev's attack was fine because he needed to look strong going into the Cena match, but they could have picked different people for him to attack because it hurts the Tag Title match a bit.
