5 Biggest Winners & Losers From WWE In 2025
2. Winner: CM Punk
CM Punk started off the year hot, winning a dream match against Seth Rollins on the January 6 premiere of WWE Monday Night Raw on Netflix. This was an immensely important show, and for the main event to revolve around him as the winner gives him lots of points.
He then carried that into WrestleMania season wherein he finally managed to check off one of the few things he was not able to do in his career, and a sticking point that made him bitter in his previous run, wherein he was part of the main event of the first night. Headlining The Grandest Stage of Them All is something not many wrestlers can say they've ever done, and while he wasn't victorious in that match and was turned on by Paul Heyman within the storyline, having his friend accompany him to the ring for his entrance was a big deal.
Punk did suffer some other losses this year, such as the unfortunate passing of his beloved dog, Larry, but he also scored some other big wins, such as being able to fight alongside his wife, AJ Lee, upon her return.
While one was short-lived with a Money in the Bank cash-in, Punk did capture the World Heavyweight Championship twice and is now walking into January as said champion.
