5 Biggest Winners & Losers From WWE Raw (8 Aug)

2. Loser: The Club & New Day

Speaking of 50/50 booking, the WWE Tag Title scene continued fumbling and stumbling its way towards SummerSlam with another dissatisfying week of action. Though this Raw’s brief Gallows vs. Kingston match wasn’t as egregious as The Club’s quick loss last week, it was another completely forgettable sub-two-minute match that saw Gallows pin Kofi to recover last week’s loss, and it did nothing for either team.

At this point, the angle appears to be being built around testicular injuries, which is every bit as ridiculous as it sounds. After crotching Big E last week, Gallows and Anderson did their best to ruin Kofi’s child-bearing days before being run-off, and after an earlier segment featuring The Club delivering testicle jokes while dressed as doctors, whoever’s writing this feud has their mind entrenched in the gutter.

This feud was an excellent opportunity to build heat between one of the company’s most popular acts and the brash, bold newcomers, but WWE aren’t capitalising. Instead of building a credible rivalry between the teams, Vince McMahon & co. are relying on short matches and toilet humour. Gallows and Anderson should be the division’s prime antagonists at this point: instead, they’ve been relegated to making jokes that most children wouldn’t find funny, and while the match is strong on-paper, the heat is non-existent.
