5 Biggest Winners & Losers From WWE Raw (8 Aug)

1. Loser: Rusev

Poor old Rusev. The Bulgarian Brute was successful in defending his championship against Cesaro in the night’s main event, but he took a serious fall down the rankings otherwise.

First, there was the wedding segment, which was already tiresome enough until Roman Reigns got involved. Reigns was not only successful in eventually securing a US Title shot at SummerSlam, but the brawl saw Rusev inadvertently knock his bride Lana into the wedding cake. The segment was almost comically bad, and it left Rusev (and Lana) red-faced and full of anger.

Not only that, but the United States Title existed only as an asterisk within the segment. The cake sell was treated with far more importance throughout, which only further diminishes the title’s status (and its champion’s by default) ahead of what should be one of the biggest matches of Rusev’s career. Reigns adds some star power to the division, but WWE are seemingly doing their absolute best to sap what little remains of the US Title’s credibility ahead of SummerSlam.

Then there was the main event. Rusev won, sure, but it only came about after Sheamus had already Brogue Kicked Cesaro in the head. It was a decent match nonetheless, but as Rusev walked out with his belt, Reigns charged down the ramp and Speared him to the ground, leaving Rusev lying as the show went off the air.

Not a great week for the champion or his challenger, who both took significant steps backwards.

Now take a look at the winners...
