5. Winners: Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows

Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows have had a rough ride in WWE. Their reputation has been shattered following a seemingly endless series of losses to The New Day, and it’ll be a long time before they can be considered title challengers again. Character wise, they’ve primarily been used as vehicles for Vince McMahon’s schoolyard sense of humour: an act that suits neither of them, and has all but destroyed their remaining credibility.

That said, last night’s Raw proves that there are still signs of life in the duo. Enzo Amore and Big Cass made their way to the ring for a match with Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel, but Gallows and Anderson jumped them from behind. A Boot of Doom and Magic Killer later, the Realest Guys in the Room were left gazing at the stars, and Gallows and Anderson suddenly remembered how effective they can be as a set of no-nonsense ass-kickers.

WWE need to keep them serious. They’re both charismatic enough, but the comedy material sounded like it was written by a twelve year old, and Gallows and Anderson are so much better in a more limited role. It’ll take awhile to get there, but straightforward segments like this are a great way to rebuild their threat level and make them feel dangerous again.
