5 Biggest Winners & Losers From WWE Raw (Oct 10)

1. Loser: Chris Jericho

Isn’t Chris Jericho just the best? The List of Jericho is more over than most of Raw’s roster, his comic timing is better than ever, and he continues finding new ways to stay relevant even after 26 years in the business. He’s a credit to Raw at the moment, and he’ll be sorely missed whenever he next steps away.

Sadly, Raw didn’t end favourably for him. Last night saw WWE tease further tension between Jericho and his best friend, Kevin Owens. After some verbal jousting (and Mick Foley being added to the list for a second time), Stephanie decided to put Jericho in a main event match with Seth Rollins. If Jericho won, he’d join HIAC’s Universal Title match to make it a Triple Threat, and boy, did Kevin Owens look upset.

They hinted at further tension in a backstage interview with Tom Phillips, then again in a Jericho/Stephanie interaction, before Y2J and Seth Rollins wrestled Raw’s best match. It was a sturdy back and forth affair, but while Owens got involved, he wasn’t the deciding factor. Rollins neutralised him with a dive, and a few minutes later, he countered the Walls of Jericho into a small package for the win.

Jericho blew an opportunity that may never emerge again at this late stage in his career, and he was made to eat a Seth Rollins Pedigree post-match. The big takeaway from all of this is that Owens bailed on Jericho just seconds before Chris had saved him from a Pedigree, and their friendship has never looked rockier.
