Nothing’s set in stone yet, but it looks like Goldberg is finally returning to WWE. The writing’s been on the wall since his inclusion in WWE 2K17 was announced a few months ago, but the man himself has remained coy on the subject. Last week’s ESPN interview revealed that he was completely open to the idea, however, and that if he did return, Brock Lesnar would be the first name on his list.

Paul Heyman appeared on Raw to address to interview, and after hyping the video game, Heyman issued the challenge: a fight with Brock Lesnar, anywhere, any place, and anytime. Heyman told Goldberg that he could either stay at home or step inside the ring and be conquered by Lesnar, “because in Suplex City, you aren’t Goldberg: you’re next”.

Goldberg is now firmly back in the WWE Universe’s consciousness, and his stock value takes a big hike after Heyman’s promo. We learned a few minutes later that Goldberg will appear on next week’s Raw to answer the challenge, and the match feels like a certainty at this point.

It remains to be seen whether or not it's a good idea for a man who hasn’t wrestled in 12 years to make his comeback against the Beast Incarnate of all people, but we’ll soon find out. Last week’s rumours pegged Survivor Series as a potential battleground, and all signs point towards Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg going down on one of WWE’s biggest shows of the year.
