5 Things We Want To See After WWE Royal Rumble 2022 (And 5 We Don’t)
1. Want: Seth Rollins Face Turn
This year’s Royal Rumble arguably peaked at the very beginning: Seth Rollins entering in full Shield gear, through the crowd, to the old music. A real stroke of inspiration, it got the crowd behind the challenger straight away.
From there, Rollins put in one of his gutsy underdog performances that get you believing he can topple a larger man, with Reigns eventually getting disqualified after letting Seth’s mind games get to him. The face/heel dynamic wasn’t totally clear here, but going forward, it might just be time to turn Rollins face again.
Yes, this has failed in the past, but the company is so short on convincing faces, and Rollins has the quality and genuine star power to pull it off. Roman Reigns’ build has left us with few convincing challengers - Rollins, meanwhile, has never lost to the Tribal Chief.
Had Rollins, rather than Lesnar, taken the last Rumble spot to seal a WrestleMania title match, it would have been a far more intriguing bit of booking. He could replicate his 2015 WrestleMania heist, or challenge for Lashley's title. In any event, he's the hero we need.
