5 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Rampage (July 22)
2. ROH: The Greatest Hits
Again, it was a genuine treat to see Christopher Daniels in there doing his thing. The fact AEW programmed him against Jay Lethal and had Caprice Coleman run through their respective histories in the promotion was the cherry on top - Tony Khan is really trying with this ROH stuff.
Yes, your writer has given up on whinging about too much of it on AEW TV for now.
Rampage's main event wasn't just a sentimental affair though. Lethal worked in some of Samoa Joe's main moves (or at least teased them) before locking in his submission on a downed Daniels outside the ring. That's when Sonjay Dutt yelled into the camera about how Jay would take Joe's TV Title on Saturday night.
Sometimes, all you need from a show is this kind of pro wrasslin' goodness. No frills here, just solid work and then simple storytelling that set up a pay-per-view clash. Fingers crossed it won't be too long before Daniels is back on screens.
He's one of the smartest workers on the planet these days.
