5 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Mar 28)

1. Blackout

Andrade Almas Aleister Black

The delightfully devilish Andrade 'Cien' Almas kicked the hell out of Aleister Black last night, and it was glorious.

Dakota Kai had made her way to the ring, ready to face an unnamed opponent. It never happened, though. The cameras cut outside the building, where the NXT Champion was putting the boots to his New Orleans challenger, before trying to literally drown the Dutchman in a vat of ice water. From there, he took the brutalisation to the arena proper, talking smack all the way, leaving 'The Ominous Man From Amsterdam' (terrible nickname, Nigel) lying a broken, battered heap.

We've never seen Black in such a state, and rarely has Almas looked so vicious. That's why this segment was a triumph. The extent to which Aleister was dominated was almost shocking, and after butting heads with Zelina Vega after scoring number one contendership, Black now has even more incentive to kill 'Cien' in the face in New Orleans.

This feud's heat is through the roof. Almas vs. Black needed an injection of poison, and it got just that, which ensures that this won't just be a clash between two of the best wrestlers in the company, but a couple of guys who legitimately hate each other. Lovely.
