5 Ups & 2 Downs From UFC 248

2. War Of Champions

If you've been following our monthly fight previews - and if you're not you really should give it a read here - you'll know that we've been big fans of the UFC's women's strawweight division for a long time. After all, it's got the most exciting match-ups in all four of the female weight classes and the fighters at the very top are of the highest quality.

Tonight's co-main event featuring the champion of the division, Zhang Weili, and the former queen of the strawweights, Joanna Jędrzejczyk, was a perfect example of why this weight class truly has the brightest future of them all in mixed martial arts.

Both women showed the highest level of mixed martial arts tonight, mixing the beauty of their technique alongside the brutal power needed to cause the sort of horrific damage that they both had to absorb. It's too soon to say that this was a passing of the torch as Jędrzejczyk could very well fight her way back into title contention.

However, even if they don't fight again, they'll have given us an all time classic bout to rewatch in the future.
