5 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage: Fyter Fest Week One (July 15)

Ups...

5. Not Today

Onto the good.

The segment between Gunn Club and The Acclaimed was as slick as they come. Nobody did anything revolutionary, but it didn't overstay its welcome and solidified the Caster/Bowens duo as babyface sensations in the making. Live crowds are super-into these dudes.

The Gunns knocking back a challenge is exactly the sort of thing they should be doing too. There's certainly nothing wrong with old school wrasslin' 101, and that's what this was. Separating both squads (their union was a little sudden and weird) from one another will do them both good in the long run.

Tip of the cap to Tony Khan if the plan all along was to re-emphasis the Gunns as heels and turn The Acclaimed baby. If that was the boss man's intention, then he's executed things to perfection. Some Rampage promo skits are uncoordinated - this worked a charm.
