5 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage: Fyter Fest Week One (July 15)

1. Claudio Castagnoli Gets A Good Spot

...this guy.

Regular readers will know that this writer isn't typically delighted about all that AEW vs. *insert promotion here* crossover stuff, but complaining about a match as good on paper as Jonathan Gresham vs. Claudio Castagnoli seems silly. They're about to have a scorcher at Death Before Dishonor.

Next week's pay-per-view will mark Claudio's first showing on a Dishonor card since teaming with Chris Hero to face The Briscoes in June 2010. Is it the tippy-top spot some were hoping he'd have in AEW? Well, no, but it's preferable to spinning wheels in the midcard like Keith Lee did for months.

Castagnoli's star power undoubtedly elevates ROH's show too, and that has to be considered a good thing. Remarkably, the former Cesaro has never held a major singles World Title before. Keep an eye on the match vs. Gresham, because this could be Claudio's time.

It's a good spot for him regardless of the outcome.
