5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (18 Dec - Results & Review)

1. Yeet-Filler

Ludwig Kaiser Jey Uso

Jey Uso versus Ludwig Kaiser might be the embodiment of a filler match made to eat up programming time on a three-hour Raw.

Sparked by Imperium beating up Kofi Claus (yes, that’s a real thing) and Jey saving, the impromptu match dragged on for a good while. Both men did a paint-by-numbers performance as they checked off boxes next to moves in their repertoire, executing various maneuvers in different sequences until Jey hit an ugly spear and splash for the win.

It’s a shame, because both Kaiser and Uso are talented wrestlers who can deliver in the ring, but the premise to the match was bad, and the performance itself was soulless and drab. Somehow, defending the honor of Kofi Claus didn’t make it more meaningful.

This also was a lame showing for Jey, whose 2023 overall has been tremendous. Barring a major development on the Christmas episode next week, his year will close on a slightly down moment – though this will barely be a blip.
