5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Oct 23)

Ups...

5. CHAD GABLE

Shorty G Chad Gable
WWE

This name reversion deserves those capital letters.

People laughed when WWE changed Chad Gable's name to 'Shorty G' around this time last year. It was a terrible decision, one made somehow worse by the way wrestlers the same height bullied him for being "too short". Gable's own attempts at inspirational speech were also preposterous.

This week, Chad stuck two fingers up at WWE's creative department and switched back to his original ring name. Anyone who hated (pretty much everyone) the 'Shorty G' moniker can rejoice that he might become a proper pro wrestler again - the guy never needed this silly backstory or context anyway.

If this fan can make a suggestion, it's this: Chad should go one step further, tell SmackDown to go f*ck itself and leap over to Wednesday nights on NXT. He's exactly the kind of workhorse who'd fit in on that brand, and it could give him a stab at rejuvenation.
