5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage: Grand Slam (Sept 22 - Results & Review)

1. A Really Strong Segment

Sammy Guevara Heel
AEW

High fives all round for these folks.

Firstly, seeing guys like Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho on Rampage in meaningful segments elevates the broadcast. That's typically the kind of thing AEW would keep back for Dynamite or Collision. Second, Sammy Guevara cut a slick promo that explained his treachery midweek. Nice poise from Sammy there (he's a natural heel).

The skit explained Guevara's turn, made Don Callis look even more like a cowardly piece of garbage, and even paved the way for an unlikely union between Omega and Jericho. The old screwdriver spot brought Kenny out, then AEW reasoned that he hadn't saved Jericho from screwdriver city because he cared about him.

He's just super-sick of Don.

Special mention must go to Ian Riccaboni for his line about Callis being such a snake that he even brings old enemies together. That was top wrestling commentary, and the same could be said for Excalibur adding: "It took someone as profoundly awful as Don Callis to unite Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho".

Someone get Don a "Profoundly Awful" t-shirt.
