5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Hall Of Fame 2025 (Results & Review)
1. Going Broadway-Plus Five
Before Triple H started to delve into his remarks, he commented on how difficult it was and how some people went too long, specifically poking fun at Mr. T, who famously waxed on about his mother in an endless speech.
Then The Game proceeded to speak for 65 minutes about everything under the sun, tracing his entire career and name-dropping several people. While someone who has had such a long, detailed and influential career undoubtedly should take their time to thank those who meant so much to them, this was ungodly long.
Worse, it came after two video packages aired (one was shown mid-show, as if to remind fans that the main event was still to come) and a 15-minute induction speech from Shawn Michaels. This was the embodiment of a vanity project, with superstars and legends speaking of him in absolute superlatives in the induction video and then giving him the floor for one-third of the entire program.
While some of the stories were entertaining, if this were anyone else, they would have played music to usher him off the stage. It’s especially ironic considering Triple H was charged with telling Ric Flair to wrap up his induction speech at the 2008 Hall of Fame ceremony.
One other thing worth noting: The last individual person Triple H thanked in his remarks was not Shawn, not Stephanie McMahon, but Nick Khan. Look, it’s his speech and he structured it how he wanted, but most people go by the “save the best for last” mantra, so bypassing your wife to praise the company president is… certainly a choice.
Regardless, this was certainly a speech. Just hope any NXT wrestlers in attendance were able to slip out early to get to sleep.
