5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Money In The Bank 2026 (Results & Review)

5. Some Praise For Byron Saxton

Longtime readers of this column will know that there is little love lost for Byron Saxton, who was one of the most grating, value-reducing announcers WWE has forced into the booth during the past 15 years.

Saxton seems to have found his niche as a backstage interviewer, keeping his banter to a minimum and in a more controlled environment.

That is, until Money in the Bank, when Byron filled in as the ring announcer. Readers will also know that Alicia Taylor and Mark Nash score incredibly low for their ring announcing styles, earning the Tye Dillinger “10” Award (skipping ahead on Netflix by 10 seconds repeatedly until they’re finished talking).

Saturday, Saxton stood in the ring to do introductions for the World Heavyweight Championship match – and he was good! Byron spoke with a strong, commanding presence that managed to even evoke a bit of legendary WWF/E ring announcer Howard Finkel. He didn’t do the halting, over-inflecting shouting that Taylor and Nash deliver every week. It was a breath of fresh air.

In all seriousness, WWE would do well to give the stick to Saxton and let him continue doing this, at least during PLEs when he’s not needed backstage to conduct interviews.
