5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (20 June - Results & Review)

Ups...

5. Chelsea Green Shows Up (So Does Alexa!)

This is a multi-tiered positive.

Firstly, Chelsea Green visibly worked her socks off to meet Charlotte Flair halfway and prove she could hang with somebody higher up the food chain than she is. That'll hopefully earn Green some brownie points behind the curtain. Most would agree that she has the potential to be something greater, but it's lovely to see Chelsea show her in-ring skills as well as her character based ones.

It was painful to see Flair working as a babyface and there's no getting away from that, but it'd be unfair to claim the match was totally crap just because of that wobbly presentation. Charlotte vs. Chelsea had high points, and (again) it's sweet to see Green bringing it against somebody who's considered one of WWE's golden girls.

Secondly, there's something fun bubbling away between Flair and Alexa Bliss. This could very well be WWE’s next female faction forming before our eyes. There has to be a long term payoff for why each one keeps showing up in the other's promos/matches, put it that way. If they're not forming a new supergroup of legacy stars from the earlier days of the women's revolution, then maybe Charlotte and Alexa can become a killer tag-team built on selfishness and a sense that time is passing them both by.

Sometimes, segments aren't strictly black and white. There are shades of grey, and this is proof. Babyface Flair is rubbish, but Green's performance and the promise of more to come between Charlotte and Bliss does raise the spirits. Now, get entitled heel Charlotte back for good!
