At least Jade's match worked out on SmackDown.

She won a fine tune up bout vs. Chelsea Green that played to her and Green's strengths. The pair did well to jumpstart things with energy by having Cargill cut off Chelsea's cheeky promo insults backstage (whomever suggested that creatively needs a pat on the back), then Piper Niven and Alba Fyre did their jobs to distract Jade and open the door to some Green heat.

It was a functional match overall, but a well worked one that presented Jade as dominant and Chelsea as opportunistic. You've got to love snappy matches that don't try to over-extend themselves and play to the best parts of each character. That's a fine blueprint to follow, especially for TV scraps like this that are supposed to get one half ready for a big PLE encounter.

Green's heel work did more to portray Jade as a threat to the Women's Title than anything WWE has done with Tiffany Stratton and Cargill in recent weeks, which is a bit of a shame. That's on them, not Jade or Tiffy, but one of these women might need to speak up and say: 'Eh...who's babyface and who's heel in this scenario again?'.

In the end, Cargill gave Chelsea just enough to make the win feel hard fought, and the live crowd popped big for her Jaded finisher. It's really cool to see Green slide into a leadership role like this - she called much of the match, and she was there for everything Jade needed her to be there for.

That's a win.
