5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (27 Feb - Results & Review)

1. A Women’s Division Dud

Jordynne Grace Candice LeRae

Jordynne Grace running through Candice LeRae in around 4 minutes was as entertaining as it sounds. Honestly, this is a bloody nightmare outcome for Grace. She's ice cold after failing to beat Jade Cargill, and now she's a backdrop for the 'depressed Johnny Gargano' storyline that's going precisely nowhere in a hurry. What a slide down the ranks for Jordynne this is.

The match wasn't quite a full squash like Oba destroying Miz was, but it just didn’t work. The live crowd went totally silent for the bout as soon as it started, and understandably so. Why should they care? Again, Grace is struggling after failing to beat Jade, and whatever LeRae and Johnny have going on isn’t interesting in the slightest. WWE can’t afford too many matches this lifeless during WrestleMania season.

Sadly, there are probably more of them coming. It's becoming clearer and clearer that Hunter isn't the God tier booker some believed him to be when he first took charge of creative. It's either that or his focus is split between too many things and he needs to delegate. Or, and this is another possibility, maybe 'The Game' is delegating and the folks he's delegating to just don't have any good ideas for TV.

Whatever the case, there's no excuse for running with this half-baked fare so close to 'Mania. Grace vs. LeRae should've been on Main Event, not SmackDown. It had absolutely no business being hyped up by Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett as something fans needed to pay attention to.
