5 Ups & 5 Downs For WWE Raw (4 Aug - Results & Review)
Downs…
5. Why Run This Back?
Serious question: Was anyone who watched SummerSlam clamoring for a rematch between Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss and the Judgment Day? It’s not like their match Saturday night was a classic or even one of the five best matches of the weekend.
While the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match this weekend was perfectly fine, it was forgettable from an in-ring perspective, with the positive marks coming from the budding Flair/Bliss dynamic and how they overcame a miscommunication spot to topple the tag champs.
Monday’s in-ring promo was fine for what it was – though it felt a bit forced – before Raw GM Adam Pearce booked his second impromptu title match of the night.
The match itself was clinically fine, but was pretty basic until Charlotte’s hot tag, which still has a novelty to it because it’s so strange seeing Flair as a popular babyface tag wrestler. Beyond that novelty, there wasn’t much to praise here, and with the Odd Couple duo already holding the titles, there wasn’t even that added emotional heft.
Call this a mild disappointment, though it certainly wasn’t offensive or actively bad.
