5 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (29 April - Results & Review)

DOWNS…

6. Soooo… Patrick Mahomes Is A Heel?

Logan Paul Patrick Mahomes

When a two-time defending Super Bowl champion quarterback agrees to be part of your program, you don’t hesitate.

But maybe you craft a slightly better role than booking him as a heel – in the town where he plays – by pairing him with one of the most despicable villains in the company, Logan Paul. Patrick Mahomes not only palled around with Paul, he gave the United States Champion his three Super Bowl rings to allow him to attempt to knock out babyface Jey Uso (which ultimately backfired).

The decision was questionable at best and led to an awkward confrontation when Braun Strowman saved Jey, then squared up to Mahomes and two of his teammates in the crowd, with Uso talking the big man down.

If Mahomes’ public perception was one of a “bad boy,” or if he was in San Francisco (whom the Kansas City Chiefs defeated at Super Bowl LVIII) then this would have worked tremendously. Instead, it scanned as, “Hey, we’ve got Mahomes for the night. What can we do with him?” “Let’s stick him with Logan. We’ll worry about the confusing dynamic later.”
