5 Ups And 1 Down From WWE NXT (Nov 11)
4. Santos Little Helpers
We're still a million miles away from this being a coherent storyline in a well-booked division, but Escobar vs Atlas at least represented an upturn in Cruiserweight standards this week. We'll, mentally snipping out the part where Escobar has already seen Atlas off in seconds but, for some reason, elected to give him a title shot after he attacked them in the parking lot.
The bottom line here is that this is a good pairing. Atlas might not generate babyface sympathy on sight, but his style is such that he plays an underdog incredibly well. Likewise, Escobar's one of the few pure heels on this show who isn't preoccupied with secretly being liked, giving a classic Good vs Not Good encounter.
Detractors will point to a handful of small botches (and one that could have been a lot worse), but overall this was two men with really good chemistry being given the time and the platform to show what they can do. On its own merits it was enjoyable, and against the backdrop of recent booking it was an improvement.
