5 Ups And 1 Down From WWE NXT (Nov 11)
3. Indi-cent Proposal
NXT's Women's Division is the best thing in pro-wrestling right now. Not because of Io Shirai and her never-ending-journey of title match bangers - although that's a major part of it, yeah - but because of how well the show is able to rotate people out of the title picture and into engaging stories and feuds. It bears repeating that, until very, very, very recently, the only motivations women were allowed to have in WWE were either "I want the shiny thing" or "I want this man".
Toni Storm's motivation is that she's back and is trying to prove herself on the show all over again, Candice LeRae's motivation is that she was wronged in a big match and wants revenge for it, Indi Hartwell's motivation is that she really wants to be Candice's mate, and, well... Shotzi Blackheart just really loved that f***ing tank, man!
We'll get a tag match in the near future, at least one single's ripper to blow it all off, and either Storm or Shotzi or Candice or even Indi will then deservedly move back into the title picture. The wheel (remember them) keeps on spinning, and the reason I've gone on about this at length instead of the match is because it explains how you can have Storm get beaten here without it being a burial.
The match was easily her strongest since returning, and being outsmarted by Candice at her career-best level only helps her carve out even more of a narrative for herself.
