5 Ups And 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (May 2)

4. A Perfect Squash

Tye Dillinger vs. Aiden English already happened on SmackDown a few weeks ago, and while the repetition nullified last night's rematch somewhat, it was still successful in putting both men over. Dillinger, of course, squashed the former Vaudevillain in little over a minute, continuing his decent run on the main roster, and helping him build towards a more sustained midcard push.

Just like last time, however, English was given plenty of opportunities to showcase his character. His singing gimmick could be a potential heat magnet if WWE don't run it into the ground, and the post-match temper tantrum was fantastic. English literally burst into tears backstage, ensuring he came off whiny and insecure, which will help him stand-out while playing a losing role.

With a gimmick like this, English is an ideal enhancement talent. He'll have just enough heat to ensure that whoever he wrestles actually gets over, as Aiden becomes somebody the fans love to see getting beaten up. It'd be nice to see Tye face a different opponent next time, but once again, this contest was everything a squash match should be.
