The Vaudevillains are the new Ascension on the main roster. In other words, they're only really there to make up the numbers and lay down for other teams. In effect, they are enhancement talent, but not quite flat out jobbers. By contrast to the men Braun Strowman has been pasting on Raw, Aiden English and Simon Gotch have some star power at least.

American Alpha made their debut on SmackDown Live this week, picking up a win over The Vaudevillains in the process. At just over three minutes, the entire exercise was a short one, but there were punctuated parts of heel offence in there. Unfortunately, they didn't really seem to fit.

It would have been much better to see Chad Gable and Jason Jordan simply run through a couple of 'local competitors'. Then, the duo could have showcased all of their moves and athleticism without that unnecessary, pesky need for heel heat from the opposing team.
