5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Aug 2)

1. The Women Get Shunted Into The Background

There were two women's matches on SmackDown that didn't actually get started. Firstly, Eva Marie ducked out of her bout against Becky Lynch, claiming she had been injured during her entrance and therefore couldn't wrestle. It would have been fine (given Marie's stance as a villain) to leave things there.

Sadly, WWE decided to repeat the idea later in the show. Carmella was attacked by Natalya before the pair were set to lock up, meaning the match didn't end up taking place. Admittedly, the reasons for each cancellation were different, but it didn't exactly shine the light on the women's division in a positive way.

Females on SmackDown don't have a title to gun for, and it doesn't look hopeful for the fairer sex when matches are being canned more than once on the same event. It came across as lazy that WWE decided to book these segments in similar fashion.
