5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (June 30)

1. The Miz Doesn't Get Protected In Main Event

There was one major 'up' to be found in the interaction between Dean Ambrose and The Miz on SmackDown, but that obviously doesn't belong in the 'downs'. Once they had set up their main event clash, Miz and Ambrose had a heated bout that logically ended with the WWE Champion coming out on top.

That's not the problem, the negative here is that Ambrose was booked to make Miz's core offence look largely inconsequential. As a fine WWE Intercontinental Champion, Miz should be a real threat to Ambrose whenever they're in the ring together, otherwise he comes off looking decidedly second rate.

Neither the Figure-Four Leg Lock nor the Skull Crushing Finale really had an impact on Ambrose, he shrugged both off with relative ease before picking up the win. It's little touches like that fans pick up on, Miz should have been protected a little more in the actual match between the pair.
