The way WWE transitioned out of The Highlight Reel into another chapter surrounding the Intercontinental Title was smooth. Sami Zayn was Chris Jericho's guest in the opening skit, before the pair were interrupted by The Miz and Maryse. As it often does in the company, this intrusion led to a match between Miz and Zayn.

The bout was excellent, but it's worth mentioning what happened towards its conclusion. Kevin Owens was on commentary, but he came face to face with Zayn on the outside. After a heated stare down, he followed his rival into the ring and attacked him. This led to The Miz getting disqualified.

Cesaro then ran down, and eventually wound up holding the Intercontinental Title after a brawl. Crucially, Owens cost The Miz a match and Cesaro 'accidentally' hit Zayn with an uppercut. There was so much going on, and all of it made sense in terms of showing the competitiveness these men share.
