5 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (August 6)
2. We Get It
For weeks now, the storyline has been beaten into our heads: Seth Rollins is outnumbered, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre have his number, and Seth can’t overcome the numbers game.
Dolph and Drew toppled Seth in a handicapped match Monday night after Roman Reigns’ attempt to step in and be his partner was thwarted by Stephanie McMahon (can’t jeopardize the SummerSlam main event, can we?). Rollins tried, but he was overcome and fell to a Ziggler superkick.
All of this is building to what seems to be the obvious: Dean Ambrose finally makes his return to the roster and helps fend off McIntyre so Rollins can reclaim the Intercontinental Championship. After that, two-thirds of The Shield can feud with Ziggler and McIntyre for a while and maybe even throw the Raw tag titles into the mix.
But this has been beaten into our heads, and Michael Cole kinda spoiled it a bit by noting that Ambrose couldn’t be Rollins’ partner Monday night because he was still sidelined. It was a solitary mention, but it was enough to qualify as WWE foreshadowing. Dean isn’t around this week, but maybe you’ll see him again soon.
