5 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (April 20th)
2. RK-No
One of the biggest head-scratchers of the week had to come in having Randy Orton spending the entire three-hour show stalking and RKO-ing everyone in sight as a prelude to locking himself in a steel cage with Seth Rollins and hitting the RKO on him all in advance of an Extreme Rules match where the RKO is banned. So WWE spent three hours having Orton lay people out with a move that fans love to see to help set up a match where the move cannot be performed. If you harken back to last fall, the RKO from outta nowhere YouTube and Vine videos were really hot, with fans really wanting to see the RKO at every turn. Then Orton went off to film another direct-to-video WWE movie (perfect timing), only to return and WWE try to get the RKO from outta nowhere meme over again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbvXmDJifbI Now, WWE has booked a steel cage match where Orton cannot use the RKO, and they had him hit five RKOs to build up the match Monday night. It might make sense in one way can Orton win without his go-to move? but all youve done is build up a big crowd-pleasing move and then take it away.
