5. Angle Advancement Without The Angles

Raw felt like it wanted to set the table for Fastlane, but the writers simply forgot to connect the dots.

And thus, we had a bunch of matches and angles that didn’t really go anywhere. Consider:

* Finn Balor beating Lio Rush, leaving Bobby Lashley in the cold.* Lashley and Braun Strowman battling without a match.* Ascension and Heavy Machinery arguing backstage.* Dean Ambrose losing to Drew McIntyre again.

That’s not to say that any of that on its own is bad, but you’d think some of this would have set up a PPV match for Fastlane, but it all stayed silent, even though the opportunities seemed to be there.

As such, Raw felt more like filler, with next week’s episode probably backfilling the storylines to give us a few matches from Raw for the PPV.
