It’s understandable in the era of monthly PPVs that there are bound to be rivalries that span multiple special events, but Stomping Grounds is shaping up to look like more of a rerun than anything else.

As of Monday night, five matches have been announced, four of which are rematches from a previous PPV. The two world title bouts – Kofi Kingston versus Dolph Ziggler, and Seth Rollins versus Baron Corbin – are retreads from Super Showdown last week. Becky Lynch and Lacey Evans will have a rematch from Extreme Rules last month, and Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre will hook up in a WrestleMania rematch (which also was a bout on Raw a while ago).

That’s quite a lot of recent history being dug back up. And it’s not like all of them were matches whose outcomes were dubious. Lynch tapped out Evans cleanly. Reigns won at Mania and again on Raw by DQ (though McIntyre cost Roman his match against Shane McMahon at Super Showdown). And Rollins beat Corbin because he was too busy arguing with a referee.

At least we’re getting a fresh(ish) matchup in Bayley versus Alexa Bliss.
