5 Ways To Have Better Handled The Vacant WWE Championship

4. The Presentation Of Survivor Series 2015

This missed opportunity came in the 2015 Survivor Series event itself and how it was presented. In building off the idea that a new WWE Champion did not need to be crowned immediately, the Survivor Series was timed perfectly to progress this story. For those that remember the 1990 Survivor Series main event, a similar concept could have been employed. For those that do not remember, check this out. A popular concept at the time, and often requested to be resurrected, the Grand Finale Match of Survival took all of the Survivor Series match winners in 1990, and put them into one final match as the main event. This idea was generated back when the event still exclusively featured multi-man elimination style tag team matches. The surviving members of each match would qualify for a future WWE Championship opportunity. Whether a tournament was held at a later date, or some other form of establishing a new champion was used, the Survivor Series event could have determined the participants. In addition to the concept being fresh, there's so many creative stories that could've grown from this style of presentation, but instead the WWE presented the Survivor Series as the semis and finals of possibly the weakest WWE Championship tournament ever. A tournament that did not include former champions Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Daniel Bryan, or Randy Orton. And another guy that kind of had a reason to care about this Survivor Series...
