4. Goldberg's Return
What other big time ex-professional wrestlers are out there that aren't A) committed to another project B) still valuable in terms of drawing & star power and C) can still work a match? The first restriction likely eliminates The Rock, Ronda Rousey, and possibly Batista. The second two puts a nix on former stars like Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, and Chris Jericho. While option C has always been open for debate with this man, Goldberg is on a very short list of names that can be brought back in and still make an impact at WrestleMania. The man who was once 173-0 has gone on record stating that he was unhappy in his last run with WWE (which ended almost twelve years ago) and has publicly criticized the company, showing little interest in returning to work for them. That is exactly why it is not only possible, but very likely Vince McMahon would hire him back. Although Paul Levesque is currently in charge of talent acquisition, it would be foolish to think Vince McMahon doesn't have absolute final say. It seems the harder the talent is to get and the more opposed they are to working for WWE, the more Vince wants them. Brock Lesnar, Sting, Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan have all criticized the company in the past and, perhaps because of it, they shot to the top of Vince's Most Wanted List. The same can be said for the man likely on the top of his current list, CM Punk. (It's also been rumored that TNA has interest in Bill Goldberg, but they more than likely don't have the funds needed to acquire his services). The point is hiring Goldberg for WrestleMania makes sense - he still has some name recognition left, and will likely be able to put on a good enough match to make it worthwhile, especially if paired with a younger talent. An extended run is unlikely, but with the part-time contracts becoming more and more of a regular thing in WWE, and with time catching up to everyone, it may be now or never for Goldberg.
