6 Best WWE Extreme Rules PPVs Ever
5. Extreme Rules 2013
Again, not necessarily a terrible showing at Extreme Rules 2013, but not a particularly impressive one either.
The show was headlined by the blockbuster score-settler between Triple H and Brock Lesnar—which Lesnar of course won to launch his streak of dominance, which culminated in squashing Cena for the WWE Championship.
Cena and Ryback also put on a solid showing in their WWE title bout, which finished as a no contest after a huge spot saw Ryback hoist the champ onto his shoulder and charge through the arena set.
However was there was no World Heavyweight title bout due to Dolph Ziggler’s untimely concussion. Instead we got an Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger rematch, which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it was more of the same after their WrestleMania meeting the previous month.
That hurt the show somewhat, as did the lethargic Sheamus vs. Mark Henry strap match—which is no fault of either competitor, that’s just the way a strap match tends to be...
The performance of the Shield was one other highlight though. Dean Ambrose captured the United States title from Kofi Kingston, while Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns beat team Hell No for tag gold. The result was the emphatic sight of a clean sweep for the renegade faction, but even with that in mind, this was a good—rather than great—showing.
