6 Best WWE Pay-Per-View Segments
3. Rebecca Michaels Gets KO'd (SummerSlam 2008)
Chris Jericho owes a lot to Rebecca Michaels. It was running into her at SummerSlam that helped catapult Fozzy's leading man into arguably the best run of his entire career as a smarmy, suit-wearing snake between 2008 and 2010.
She wasn't there merely to stand behind her more famous husband and put on her best "worried" expression either. The former WCW "Nitro Girl" (yeah, that was actually a thing) took a mean-looking right hand from Y2J after Shawn ducked out of the way, resulting in what looked like a legitimate swollen lip.
Small wonder, then, that the Heartbreak Kid was so peeved off in the months that followed. He was so upset that he reversed the retirement announcement that he came down to the SummerSlam ring to make in order to fight a pair of now legendary matches with Jericho at Unforgiven and No Mercy.
And that's what made this such a brilliant segment. It pushed what would have otherwise been a solid if unspectacular feud into the territory of something deeply personal; that rare kind of all-consuming rivalry that fully warrants the WWE melodrama. They could have done it on Raw, granted, but it felt like it belonged on pay-per-view.
