6 New Directions For Rusev After WWE Clash Of Champions 2016 Defeat

5. A Feud That Doesn't Focus On The United States Of America

As of yet, WWE haven't shown that they can tell an interesting story with Rusev that doesn't involve the United States of America somehow. He's either had the US Championship or been a Russian Hero, and whilst there was that brief sojourn into a love quadrangle with Lana, Summer Rae and Dolph Ziggler I think I speak for all when I say that needs to be forgotten.

It is a complaint as old as time, but the WWE creative team's entire existence depends on their ability to write stories for the performers. Can they craft a feud for Rusev now? There are plenty of interesting babyface options for the big man to feud with, but forgive me for having little faith in Vince & Co's ability to tell a story that isn't all about just how foreign Rusev is.

Rusev has personality, charisma for days and a valet that mimics this. Putting him in a hard-hitting feud with someone like Sami Zayn or Big Cass & Enzo could do wonders for him. Heck, the thought of promo duels between Rusev and Enzo is pretty damn exciting.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
