6 Successful Parody Wrestling Gimmicks You Totally Miss

2. Black Machismo (Jay Lethal)

Everybody loves the Macho Man. He's even been shoehorned into Skyrim as a dragon for no explicable reason. We've all probably tried our hand at impersonating the Macho Man in the mirror or at our friends'. However, regardless of how good we think we are at it, we'll never be as good at it as Jay Lethal is.

If you had the pleasure of watching TNA when it was on Spike TV, you probably remember Lethal’s surprisingly good run as Black Mashismo. His impeccable impersonation skills led to his success, as he not only nailed the Macho Man but also gave Ric Flair a run for his money during their feud. With all of the “Oh Yeahs”, the Elbow Drops, and of course the iconic shades, the persona was well over with both the fans and management, earning him several runs with the X-Division Title.

Today, Lethal's talents can be found primarily on ROH and sporadically on WCPW. However, he sadly does not appear as the Black Machismo anymore. Sure he's been successful as his own character but the nostalgia of Macho Madness combined with Lethal’s objective wrestling talent made for quite the superstar. A second run as the Black Machismo (or maybe even a "Nature Bruh" character) would be welcomed with open arms.
