Throughout his 17 year career, Samoa Joe has found himself in a number of high-profile positions on a frequent basis. For a long time during the first decade of the new millennium the companies that were thought to be #2 and #3 in the United States pro wrestling hierarchy were TNA and Ring of Honor, and Joe played a prominent role in the rise of both.

It was in ROH that he made his first mark, arriving in the company in 2002 and winning the ROH World Championship in no time whatsoever. It was under his watch that ROH really began to grab international attention, along with its stellar roster including names like Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, Austin Aries and Christopher Daniels.

After doing all there was to do in ROH Joe then moved on to TNA in 2005, where he embarked on an 18-month undefeated streak that featured some of the best matches in company history and was only ended when Kurt Angle arrived in the company.

This period is frequently regarded as TNA's finest hour, and Joe was an integral part of it.

Joe now finds himself atop the NXT brand, which has exploded over the last couple of years to become the biggest cult phenomenon in US professional wrestling.

Joe thus has played a part in the development and explosion of three separate wrestling companies in his career. Not bad going at all.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man.
