It's the most infamous debut in the history of professional wrestling, and watching it today still makes one cringe. We'll never really know what was supposed to happen in WCW with The Shockmaster, but we can be pretty sure he wasn't supposed to fall down and lose his helmet on live television.

Roberts and Joe get into a brief chat about Samoa Joe's debut in NXT, which came at the end of the NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable. Roberts asks whether Joe was nervous about it at all, whether he was worried that despite his success elsewhere the crowd wouldn't respond to him as expected.

It turns out that Joe wasn't worried about the reaction at all, but he was a little nervous about one thing. Before making his entrance he started to notice the sheer amount of cables on the floor, and into his mind came thoughts of making the sort of entrance that would be talked about for decades to come, a 'shocking' entrance.

Imagine how different things would have been if Samoa Joe had indeed pulled a Shockmaster as he appeared to confront Kevin Owens.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
